A few years ago, I remember seeing a custom graphic on Dave Ramsey’s Facebook page that read, “If your money isn’t working for you around the clock, you will always lose with money.” That hit a sore spot with me. He was right. Over the past year, I have come up with (and put into action) several strategies to monetize my life, and so far, they have all had amazing results.
I Earn By Paying My Bills
Instead of relying on my online bill pay banking platform to pay my monthly bills, I use a cash back debit rewards card instead. I earn three percent cash back on $1,500 worth of “expenses” each month (not to include my mortgage); and with the convenience of auto pay with most of my payees, it just makes sense – and dollars too.
Monthly Earnings: $45
Annual Earnings: $540
I Earn By Shopping
Years ago, I signed up for a free E-bates account; a website that pays me cash back to shop at all of my favorite stores anyway. I earn anywhere from two to 15 percent cash back on things like make up, toiletries, dog food, clothes, shoes, back to school supplies and electronics, straight off the top, just because I use their portal as my main platform.
Cash Back to Date: $1,756
But I Didn’t Stop There
Whenever I shop using E-bates, I also learned I could double and triple dip on my savings, as well as earn $5 for every person I referred to E-bates who made a qualifying purchase (and bonuses to boot). When ordering, of course I use my cash back debit rewards card, but I also use the rewards and loyalty cards provided to me by retailers like CVS, Walgreens and Target. This would typically double and triple my cash back, allowing me to use coupons and points to shop almost for free at some of the above-mentioned stores.
In addition, using the option E-bates gives me to post to my social media accounts on my behalf, I have had over 70 people sign up for a free E-bates account all their own, and I didn’t have to do anything for it.
I’ve Earned: $950 to date
I Review Products
When I find a product I love and want to review, I will blog about it, or write a paid review for the sponsor. Writing just two or three of these a day, at approximately 150 words each, I make $15.
$15 x 365 = $5,475
Of course, when I promote the product on my social media accounts, I tell everyone to buy it using their E-bates account.
The beauty of all this, is I’m paying myself for things I would do anyway, but I’m making my money work for me, instead of using that as idle time. And, as we all know, time is money.
