Watching what I eat is not fun. Most of us don’t like to diet, but in order to lose weight, I have to watch what I eat and exercise every day.
To lose weight, I had to eat better and step up my exercise routine. I eat a little bit less than what I used to. I have lost 10 pounds in 2 and ½ months. I believe in losing weight slowly so that it will stay off . The issue with fad or traditional diets is that you have to stay on them forever because when you stop, you gain the weight right back. I also don’t like the strictness of most diets today. There is no reason to deprive yourself of something sweet now and then.
My eat less diet includes three good meals a day, or five smaller meals a day, with a couple of snacks in between. It also includes lots of water or sugar free juices. My favorite is the Sparkling Ice flavored water.
I believe exercise is the number one key to losing weight and getting my body toned. I have several favorite exercises that I like to do. One of them is turning on the radio and dancing and stretching to my favorite songs. I also like to do half crunches, as it seems to tighten my belly area.
Walking your dog, or in my case, my dog walking me, is a great way to tone your legs. Also, walking up and down the stairs is another good way to get good exercise.
I may be losing weight slowly, but from everything I have seen, that is the best way to do it.
On the weekend, I have what I call my candy bar days. I have a full size candy bar on Saturday and Sunday. After that, I get up and move so the sugar and fat doesn’t go right to my hips. You have to keep your metabolism up in order to lose weight.
Moderation and exercise are the keys to losing weight and keeping it off for me. I really like the toned feeling I get after I do some of my exercises, especially when I do my knee squats. That is turning back and forth from left to right, while bending my knee part way down and having my arms up and turning them with me both ways. I also like to stand and lift up one leg at a time in front of me as high as I can. That really stretches my leg muscles. But moderation is the key.
