After gaining a whopping 40 pounds during pregnancy, I was eager to shed the extra pounds and get back to my old self. It wasn’t easy, but with the help of Nutrisystem and daily exercise, I dropped down from a size 14 to 8 in only 90 days.
My love for cooking is a major part of who I am and how I express my love for my family. Nothing says “I love you” quite like a hearty home cooked meal of your favorite dish. Unfortunately, I knew my cooking was loaded with carbs, sugar and fat. Even more so, I didn’t know any low fat and healthy recipes so I decided to try Nutrisystem. My favorite thing about Nutrisystem is that it takes the guesswork out of dieting; you can either chose a standard meal plan or customize one to meet your needs. As a busy new mother with no time to count calories, I chose the standard quick start meal plan and was sent two weeks worth of meals, snacks and even desserts. Preparing them was a cinch, all I had to do was pop in the microwave and Viola’! A delicious, low calorie meal in minutes.
With the Nutrisystem meals stocked in my fridge, I was able to free up some time for exercise. Although I had significantly reduced my daily caloric intake with Nutrisystem, working out was necessary to tone my flabby muscles and get back into shape. Since I hadn’t worked out in months, I chose to do a thirty minute walk daily and eventually increased it by fifteen minutes every week. Soon enough, I was not only exercising an hour a day but also jogging!
I also invested in a calorie counting wristband to keep track of how many calories I was burning; when I saw that my daily jogs had burned between 350-450 calories, I was delighted and motivated to keep going.
From my experience, the key to weight loss is knowing yourself. Since I knew strict diets like the Paleo or Atkins wouldn’t allow for occasional sugary, sweet treats I was certain I wouldn’t have the willpower to succeed with them. I didn’t waste money on a gym membership either because I knew I preferred being outdoors. Take a minute to access your strengths and weaknesses and choose the diet and exercise plan that fit accordingly.
