The thought of stripping down to my two-piece for summer didn’t appeal to me three months ago. I just could not bear the thought of showing my stomach hanging out of my bikini and my gigantic arms that could easily knock out anyone that I would hit with them. But everything changed when a friend dutifully introduced me to the Paleo diet to jump-start my healthy weight loss.
How the Paleo Diet Works
I love the Paleo diet because it does not involve any calorie counting, and it reduces the guilt of eating just what you want until you are full. It also promotes weight loss, muscle building, and general fitness.
The Paleo diet is all about going back to the diet that humans were designed to eat during the time when our ancestors were hunter-gatherers. Everything changed when agriculture happened. Instead of eating meat, seasonal fruits, and vegetables, we have consumed grains from pasta and bread to corn, rice and more. That is how we get fatter and fatter, compromising out health in the process. With the Pale diet, we go back to basics.
How I Lost Weight
A friend convinced me to try the Paleo diet after she saw just how much I struggled with my yo-yo dieting and countless of diets.
January 5, I started removing everything with sugar from my diet. I set my mind to a No Sugar diet and fortunately, I was able to quit fast. January 11, I decided to quit grains. My body needed adjusting and it took weeks before I was able to eat only when I’m hungry. By January 15, I lost 6.5 pounds. I was surprised at how easy it was and my energy level just surged.
I started training after losing 12 pounds on January 25. I lost 12 pounds in just 20 days without exercising myself to death. What is more is the satisfaction of my significantly shrinking waistline. It was like witnessing a miracle unfolding because I have always been fat my whole life.
Today, March 18, I’m already in the 140-pound range after weighing over 200 pounds my entire life. But now, I care less about how much I weigh because I feel light, I feel good. I am totally healthy as per my cholesterol and HDL level.
I still can’t believe that I lost all those pounds without investing blood and sweat into it. Now, it is easier to maintain this time and it is all thanks to the Paleo diet. I am definitely fit and ready for summer!
