#1 Houston Texans
The Houston Texans could easily be called the biggest disappointment of the year last year. While the rest of their division was experiencing transition it seemed the time was right for them to make a move to the big stage. Instead they stumbled about as bad as any team has the last few years. The pieces are in place for them to rebound, but if they don’t, they may find themselves watching some of their division foes make the witch to contenders. The Colts may already be there.
Who they will draft – This is easy. Jadeveon Clowney from South Carolina is a monster. The Texans may try to pull one over on the rest of the league but it is hard to imagine anyone being able to resist the possibility of having a beast like Clowney on the roster. Plugging him in on a defensive line that already has some bite could spell disaster for the rest of the AFC South.
Who they should pick – OT Jake Mathews. Mathews has the pedigree. He will be a solid All-pro type player for most of his career. You can never go wrong strengthening your offensive line. The Texas have a few pieces already in place and adding Mathews would go a long way in ensuring that the Texans offense can improve on the dismal display they put up last year. As an added bonus Mathews will attract many local A&M fans who would love to see him play on Sunday’s in their own backyard.
Who we wish they would pick – None other than Johny Football himself! The Texan fan base would go wild with this pick. Texan tickets would be the hottest thing going (Sorry Jerry) and Aggie nation would immediately join in on the fun. And the best part, it just might work. Most experts don’t think Manziel has the tools to be successful at the next level, and they may be right. But what if they are wrong? What if Manziel finds a way to carry over some of the Johny Football magic to Sundays. That ladies and gentlemen, would be a show worth watching.
