Anytime my scalp is dry and itchy I apply a remedy to it that helps soothe the itching sensation away while deeply hydrating and nourishing the scalp so it can be healthy again. To make the treatment you will need a handful for natural ingredients and some basic materials. Once you create it, you can use it right away as a luxurious pampering treat to help ease your itchy discomforts away.
Natural Nourishing Ingredients
To make the product you will need cocoa butter, olive oil and essential oils of lavender, rosemary, peppermint and clary sage. These nourishing ingredients condition the hair, hydrate the scalp and stimulate hair growth so it can be stronger, healthier and shiner. You can find these ingredients at a local whole food organic store if you do not have them on hand. I always have them on hand because I believe in natural hair care.
Making the Treatment
The way I make the treatment is by first melting a cup of cocoa butter in a small saucepan on low heat until it turns into a liquid. You may microwave the cocoa butter in a microwave safe dish if you prefer. Then, I pour it into a mixing bowl. Next, I add in a tablespoon of olive oil and ten drops of each essential oil. You may add in less or more essential oils, it really depends on how strong you want the treatment to be. Then, I combine and whip the ingredients together using a mixer until I get a thick creamy mixture, which will be the remedy use to treat the itchy dry condition naturally. After, I can scoop the remedy into a wide mouth glass jar or bowl and take it into the bathroom to use right away. If you cannot use it right away, you can store it in a plastic sealable container at room temperature for about a week or two until you are ready to use it.
Proper Way to Apply
The best way I find to apply the creamy mixture is by taking a handful of it and applying a nice thick layer all over the top of my head making sure I massage the remedy into the roots of my hair so it can really soak in and work its nourishing magic. Then, I leave it in for about an hour. You will notice this treatment feels like a hair mask and may even tingle a bit with a cooling sensation. I know I have experienced this. Once the time is up, I wash my hair out with a highly nourishing organic shampoo. Then, I conditioner my hair and head as usually using an organic product. After, I rinse my hair out well again, but with cool water so the nutrients are sealed into the skin and roots of my hair. Once I am done, my scalp is soothed and nourished without irritation. To help keep it this way I use this remedy at least once a week. You may use it as many times as you need to, but overuse can make your hair and head oily.
Any of you allergic to the ingredients used in this natural remedy should not use it to help treat your condition. I can honestly say I have experienced no allergic reaction of any kind, but everyone is different and sensitive to many different things. What works for me, may not always be best for you. However, I do hope those of you who make and use this product have the best of luck with achieving the results you desire.
