After winning two national championships together at the University of Alabama, safety HaHa Clinton-Dix and running back Eddie Lacy have been officially reunited courtesy of the Green Bay Packers.
Clinton-Dix, who was chosen by the Packers with the 21st selection of the 2014 NFL Draft, recently inked a deal with the 13-time world champions. Now an official member of the Cheesehead Nation, the contract in question is the standard rookie base of four years, with a team option for a fifth. Paying Clinton-Dix an estimated $8.3 million, with a signing bonus of an additional $4.3 million, the former Crimson Tide standout has been signed, sealed, and delivered. As noted in a prior body of work, the Packers are getting a gem when it comes to all the intangibles Clinton-Dix brings to the table.
In respect to Lacy, the 2013 Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year, and Pro Bowl selection, is already a fan favorite in Green Bay courtesy of his demeanour, production, and fierce running style. Lacy ran for 1,178 yards in 2013, including 11 touchdowns.
Sharing pictures via Twitter, both Clinton-Dix and Lacy appear to be “over the moon” in regards to joining forces at the professional level. As far as the collegiate side of the equation, fans of the University of Alabama football program have been quick to use the hashtag “Built By ‘Bama” to celebrate the occasion. The popular hashtag is primarily used when a former Crimson Tide star makes a significant play during an NFL game.
Seemingly the ideal fit for both Clinton-Dix and Lacy from a team and situational standpoint, fans of the Green Bay Packers certainly share a unique bond with those who adorn the crimson and white. As noted by Clinton-Dix in a tweet, both the Packers and the Crimson Tide have some of the craziest and loyal fans in all of sports. When it comes to football passion, Green Bay fans are essentially Alabama fans who’ve been promoted to the “professional fandom” stage.
The Green Bay Packers are an historic NFL franchise with a massive fanbase, but if the Packers continue to draft some of the greatest players to ever play in Tuscaloosa, it will be quite difficult for die-hard Tide fans not to adorn a “cheesehead” while cheering on those who helped build an Alabama football dynasty.
