Sometimes, there’s a very fine line between spring and summer. But if you’ve determined that hot weather is finally here, it’s time to plan for water games, refreshing drinks, and cool treats for the kids. They’ll love ice cream, lemonade, and sodas when it’s hot, but this year, don’t forget the gummy bear popsicles. You know you’ll be serving the kids some frozen treats and gummy bear popsicles are, hopefully, among them. Nothing will be more exciting to your hot, sweaty kids than clear popsicles that show glimpses of gummy bear candies inside. No, you don’t have to go from store to store just trying to find the unusual, frozen treats. You can quickly and easily make them yourself. The best part? You can make many gummy bear popsicles for the cost of a half-dozen regular ones.
Popsicle molds are especially useful but aren’t absolutely necessary. If you don’t have traditional popsicle molds, save yogurt cups, or similar containers. They work just as well even if they don’t create popsicles of the same shape and size as traditional molds. In order to make the unique popsicles, you’ll need gummy bears, of course, as well as a clear type of pop, such as Sprite or 7UP.
No matter what kind of popsicle mold you’re using, fill it three-fourths of the way full of Sprite or other clear drink, and then drop in enough gummy bears to finish filling the mold. You can add gummy bears that are all one color, such as red, or you can make popsicles that feature assorted colors of gummies.
If you’re using a regular popsicle mold, slide the stick into the Sprite, and snap on the lid. If you’re using a yogurt cup, make a slice in the center of the lid, and use it to push a regular popsicle stick into the liquid. Place the molds in the freezer for at least 3 or 4 hours to freeze solid.
Gummy bears look adorable inside a clear popsicle but you could use other gummy shapes instead. Try making some popsicles with gummy worms, gummy letters, gummy numbers, or a combination of two or more shapes. Online, you can find gummies in a huge assortment of shapes, but the gummy worms and bears are easily found at most any grocery store. Make some of the unusual popsicles this summer and your kids will have fun snacks, colorful treats, and lots of fun.
