Breakfast burritos aren’t just for Cinco de Mayo. They can be eaten all-year round at any time of the day or night. Now the questions remain, what exactly is a breakfast burrito you ask? Quite simply, it’s basic combinations usually consist of sausage or chorizo, eggs, vegetables such as onions and green peppers, and cheeses. All these ingredients are put on top of a flour tortilla, which is then neatly wrapped for consumption.
According to the L.A. Weekly publication, a free newspaper in Los Angeles, their food blog article from 2013 featured the best breakfast burritos in the L.A. area. It seems no one there can agree on the exact way a breakfast burrito is made.
Here in Tampa Bay, there are four individually owned and operated breakfast restaurants serving breakfast burritos on their menu. Now you don’t have to go to L.A. for an authentic one. There’s one in Tampa, St. Pete, Seminole, and Gulfport with their own unique version of this breakfast delight. Here’s all the information needed on the names, locations, and hours of each restaurant. Breakfast never tasted so good.

One reviewer stated quite simply about their breakfast burrito, “The breakfast burrito was the best I ever had, not your usual burrito with egg and meat. The extras put it over the top, fresh spinach, avocado, onions and tomatoes, not to mention the FRESH salsa…I highly recommend this hidden gem in Seminole.”
Another happy customer had this to say, “I recently had the breakfast burrito and it was the best burrito that I have had for breakfast and the Brazilian coffee was wonderful.” You can find Sombra’s at the Oakhurst Plaza next to Publix. The city of Seminole is between Largo to the north and St. Petersburg to the south.

Stella’s Deli – Gulfport
You can’t miss Stella’s Deli with its bright green awning and front entrance. This cute restaurant serving breakfast and brunch, with its sidewalk cafe, is located in downtown Gulfport overlooking the waterfront. The city of Gulfport borders St. Petersburg and Boca Ciega Bay. One reviewer from Yelp gave a detailed and lengthy essay on how delectable their breakfast burrito is. Unlike most places that serve them, they end up a mess on the plate once you bite into it or use a fork and knife. At Stella’s they’re wrapped tightly and cut in half for easier eating. Their breakfast burrito has chorizo, making it spicy, eggs, taters, onions, and a healthy amount of cheddar. This is surely the place to be for a breakfast burrito.
