Heroes in the Facebook game Marvel: Avengers Alliance can be any level from 1 to 14. Higher level heroes have more powers and can equip more ISOs, including incredibly powerful augmented and empowered ISOs. For this reason, it is important to level a hero quickly if you want to regularly use that hero in battle. For various reasons, some heroes are harder to level than others. The following are the hardest heroes to level in Marvel: Avengers Alliance.
Dr. Doom – One of the main ways to gain experience quickly on a hero is to engage in boss battles. Boss battles provide higher experience awards for the same energy cost as regular battles. Unfortunately, due to his team mate restriction, Dr. Doom can never engage in a boss battle. Every boss battle has a required team-up and Dr. Doom can’t be on a team with anyone except for the agent. Since he can never fight in boss battles, he levels a lot slower than almost every other hero in the game.
Rescue – Rescue is actually one of the best heroes in the game, which makes it surprising that she is difficult to level up. Her problem is entirely based on what makes her effective. She is the best defensive hero in the game, which means she offers almost no offensive benefit in a battle. It is almost impossible to lose a battle when Rescue is involved, but it is also almost impossible to win quickly. Rescue actually prolongs battles. Slower than normal fights makes leveling her a chore and a grind.
Luke Cage – When you are teamed up with Rescue, effectively it is like you only have two heroes in the combat. Due to his terrible character design, the same is true for Luke Cage, but without the benefit of good defensive abilities to keep the rest of your team alive. To add insult to injury, a significant portion of the boss battles in the game are against bruisers. Luke Cage is already weak in almost any battle. When he goes from being weak to being an actual liability, it just isn’t worth spending time increasing his level.
Captain America – The best mission in the game for earning levels quickly mission 2 of chapter 12 of season 1. This mission is a boss rush that has an epic boss. For only 20 points of energy you can engage in two battles that grant tons of experience points and have two chances to earn Command Points. It is incredibly efficient and one of the most common ways to level heroes in this game. Unfortunately, both the boss battle and the epic battle require Captain America on the team. This may sound like a great way to level Captain America, but being forced to bring a level 1 character to an incredibly hard battle is actually quite limiting, especially in the epic battle where the opposing epic boss is an infiltrator. These battles are great for leveling Captain America once he has his full power set, but until he is at least level 9, he is frustrating to level this way.
Kitty Pryde – Kitty Pryde has the exact opposite problem of Captain America. Where he is hard to level because he is forced to be part of mission 1.12.2, she is hard to level because she is can’t be part of the first boss battle of that mission. If you want to engage in the epic boss battle, and you really do if you want to be efficient, she has to be sent on a Deployment. This means she can only fight the epic boss battle in this mission. That cuts the speed with which she can use to level in this mission by about a one third. You can level her on other boss rushes or skip the epic boss, but that will cost you in the long run.
