When building a team in Marvel: Avengers Alliance, you often want to include heroes that can apply specific status effects. Strengthened is by far one of the best status effects in the game. It grants a character a 25% increase to attack, which effectively increases damage by a like amount. High damage is simply the most effective way to quickly end fights, which helps increase your score from battles and decreases the chance of your heroes getting defeated during a battle. The following guide to the best heroes that can apply strengthened in Marvel: Avengers Alliance will help you choose the character that will best help your team.
Thor– Not only can Thor grant strengthened to all allies in a single action, but he can do it as a quick action. Additionally, Thor gains a stack of Might of Mjolnir when he does this, which means he gets an even higher boost to his attack than strengthened applies alone. The only real downside to using Thor is that Inspire Bravery can only be used once every three rounds. If your team is weakened or the buff is removed, he can’t restore the benefit easily.
Omega Sentinel – Omega Sentinel can also apply strengthened to your entire team. And, while she can’t do it as a quick action, since she acts twice per round, all of her actions are effectively quick actions. The one potential downside to Omega Sentinel is that Plasma Torch is also an attack that targets all enemies. If none of the enemies are bruisers, this is fine. It just means that all enemies are damage and afflicted with burning while your team gains strengthened. But if any of them are bruisers, then she enrages the enemy to apply this buff. Unlike Inspire Bravery, Plasma Torch can be used every round, in case strengthened is somehow removed from your team.
Heimdall – Heimdall is special because he is the one hero in the entire game that can assuredly apply strengthened to all heroes while also applying all three of the other buffs granted by rising up. This requires a normal action and does not deal any damage, but generally buffing you entire team with four buffs at once is worth the action. Like Thor, you need to be a little wary when using Heimdall, because this power, Gjallarhorn, can only be used once every three rounds.
Angel – If you are trying to get a significant damage boost for your allies, Angel is one of the best ways to do that. He can’t directly apply strengthened, but he does apply rising up to all allies with Absolution attack. This randomly applies any of the four common buffs: strengthened, focused, agile, and fortified. A few heroes can apply rising up to all allies. The main reason that Angel is one of the best choices when you are trying to build up attack power is because he also has the Aspersio attack power. This power puts a buff on all team members that increases attack, defense, evasion, and accuracy, and this buff stacks with strengthened. Stacking buffs for attack are reasonably common, but not common on a single hero. Pair Angel with a hero like World War Hulk and you can have some ridiculous damage stacking.
Domino – Like Angel, Domino can also apply rising up to all allies. The main difference is that the power she uses to do it, Around the World, also applies pressure points to all enemies, potentially creating a situation where you put exposed on an enemy while putting strengthened on one or more allies. Additionally, Domino has a special ability that causes all allies to score more critical hits. This stacks particularly well with strengthened for greatly increasing damage. Finally, Domino is one of only two blasters that can apply strengthened and the other one, Nico Minoru, can’t do it assuredly and can only do it once per battle.
