Character restricted empowered ISOs are some of the most powerful ISOs in Marvel: Avengers Alliance. Many of them drastically improve heroes as well as, or even better than, an alternate uniform. The majority of these ISOs are acquired in heroic battles in season 2. A small selection of character specific empowered ISOs can only be purchased, for gold, in the store. Each of these ISOs can be attached to heroes who have alternate costumes that can be earned in season 2. For more information, read the following guide to the store purchased character restricted empowered ISOs in Marvel: Avengers Alliance.
Masterful E-ISO, Iron Fist, 30 Gold (C+) – Masterful adds the pressure points special ability to K’un L’un Combo and Five Finger Death Punch. K’un L’un Combo and Five Finger Death Punch are basically the same power. The latter is simply the name of the power after Iron Fist uses Heart of Shou-Lao while in his alternate outfit. The addition of pressure points is a nice benefit, but it doesn’t synergize with any of his other powers or abilities. Given the weak synergy, 30 gold is rather expensive for a boost to a single power on a hero that is only top end of the second string roster.
Optical E-ISO, Cyclops, 30 Gold (D+) – The Optic Blast and Mega Optic Blast powers ignore defense while the Optical empowered ISO is equipped. In a battle that doesn’t include any counter class enemies, Optic Blast and Mega Optic Blast are the go-to powers for Cyclops. In a battle that does include counter class enemies, you are more likely to use Exploit Weakness. Thus, in PvE, this benefit can pay off pretty handily. In PvP, it is basically random chance whether it will pay off. Even if it does pay off, 30 gold is a very steep price for such a modest benefit. To make matters worse, this ability is significantly less useful if you are using an alternate blaster costume for Cyclops.
Assailing E-ISO, Daredevil, 30 Gold (B or A- for tactician variant) – Daredevil has a chance to perform a follow-up attack against an enemy that is afflicted with weakened, slowed, dizzied, or exposed. Conveniently, Daredevil has an attack that applies pressure points, and you can always team him with another character that applies pressure points, if you want. Additionally, his Manrikigusari attack has paragon exploiter, making you want to apply these status effects anyway. The one major flaw with this ability is that, as a scrapper, Daredevil may be following up anyway and these abilities won’t stack. If you own the tactician variant, though, this is actually a rather amazing ability and when it triggers on a Manrikigusari attack, you are almost assured of defeating the enemy being hit.
