Saint Patrick is the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland. Perhaps everyone has some Irish in them (this is especially highlighted in St Patrick’s day when everyone claims to be Irish – myself included my Nan was Irish). It is becoming more and more celebrated – perhaps even more so than St Georges day! Here are some upcoming events in Chelmsford to help celebrate;
Evoke Nightclub: St Patrick’s Day party
Hosted on 19.03.14 by the newest club to brace the city of Chelmsford is the students takeover party. (You would think Students would get the day correct but maybe they didn’t get up on time!) Not only is it student prices cheap to get in (£3 before 12am and £5 after) and to drink – bottles being around the £1.50 mark the club is offering a free drink to anyone who turns up in green on the night.
If this doesn’t tickle your fancy then why not celebrate in an Irish pub;
O’Conners Pub Chelmsford
As the name would suggest this is one of the Iris pubs in Chelmsford town centre, located just off of Moulsham street and greets new drinkers with open arms. Not only can you get Guinness – as you would expect to get in an Irish pub but they also supply other Beers Ciders and Lagers such as Carling, Fosters and Strong bow as well as offering guest ales.
Entry is free but expect the bar to be packed – they also have traditional Iris dancers that go from bar to bar collecting for charity.
Golden Fleece Chelmsford
If you were after something a little less crowded (read non students/non rowdy) then head over to the Golden Fleece on Duke street – on Mondays they have a Monday Night drinking club “Cheap drinks Deals from 7pm” and this is also the case on St Paddy’s day. And OK not strictly Irish still in keeping with the Irish culture of having a drink and a good time.
