Denver will celebrate Earth Day with various events throughout April. The following is a guide to Earth Day events in Denver.
Denver Earth Day Fair
The Denver Earth Day Fair will be held on April 22, 2014, at the Wellington Webb Building Atrium from 10 AM to 2 PM. The Denver Earth Day Fair will feature exhibits from local green companies showcasing their sustainable services and projects.
The Denver Earth Day Fair is a zero waste event and all marketing materials will be made from recyclable materials. This event is at 201 West Colfax Ave. and is free to the public and everyone is welcome.
Party for the Planet
Party for the Planet will be held at the Denver Zoo on April 22, 2014 starting at 10 AM. Students from around the area will have educational booths presenting environmental and conservation projects the students created. Staff from the Denver Zoo will also be there to discuss conservation projects at the Denver Zoo.
The cost for this event is included in the admission price. The Denver Zoo is located at 2300 Steele Street and you can call them at 720-337-1400.
Denver Museum of Nature and Science
Earth Day 2014 will be celebrated on Sunday, April 13 at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and feature activities about animals, energy and the wellness of the planet. This family-friendly Earth Day event will have features such as:
- A scavenger hunt.
- Exploring natural resources with the National Park Service.
- Collections from museum scientists that you can see and touch.
There will also be a book reading and book giveaway by paleontologist Dr. Scott Sampson, host of the PBS series, Dinosaur Train and the museum’s curator.
This event is free and runs from 9 AM to 5 PM. The Denver Museum of Nature and Science is located at 2001 Colorado Blvd. at Montview Blvd. in City Park.
Denver Botanic Gardens
The Denver Botanic Gardens will be celebrating Earth Day with their Seedlings Event. This Earth Day event is for children and parents to help the Denver Botanic Gardens prepare their garden beds for planting. They will have three dates for different age groups.
- Ages 18-24 months: Tuesday, April 22 starting at 9:30 a.m. and again at 10:45 am
- Ages 24 to 36 months: Thursday April 24 starting 9:30 a.m. or at 10:45
- Ages 3 to 6 years: Wednesday April 23 starting at 9:30 a.m. or 11 a.m.
