Now that we all live in the digital age, there are a ton of amazing things you can do online. You can surf the net, read your favorite books or magazines, and even watch movies for free. Now that the internet has been proven a viable marketplace for safely purchasing things you would normally have to get from the store, more and more places are creating websites to buy their products online. For me, online buying is surely the way to go but many people still remain skeptical at the validity of this process. Here are some great tips for getting the best when buying online.
Get The Discount
On almost any website you shop at you can usually find a discount, coupon, or code in some form. Some sites will require you to sign up for their mailer, while others will have a discount for certain items that qualify. One of the newest popular ways to distribute this discount is through social media via their Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube. If you still can’t find a discount try looking in forums. Many people will share coupon codes and promotions with their peers online. The best discounts I have received were for free shipping and 30% off of any order over $20.00 from my favorite clothing company.
To get the best deal on any item that isn’t store specific, look through various sites before making your purchase. You may be surprised at the large difference in prices. Depending on where you shop and what you are looking for it’s usually possible to find what you want for at least five dollars under the asking price of the most popular site online. I’ve found that just because a product is a brand name it isn’t only located in one place. Look through several online shops before making your decision.
Check out bidding websites like eBay before you decide to pay the full asking price for a product. Here you will often find good deals on quality products that usually would have cost two or three times as much as you will pay. Not only do you get a discount but you also have the option of reviewing the feedback from other customers to get a feel for whether you should trust this online salesman. Along with discounted items in online auctions many people will list a price that you can immediately purchase the item, usually still much lower than the actual value of the item.
Choose Standard Shipping
Unless it’s something you really need then choose standard, cheap, or free shipping as your method. While it was true at one point that if you chose this option you would be waiting months to see your purchase, this is not the standard anymore. Online stores want to build a good reputation by making sure you get quality customer care, a good product, and fast shipping. Choosing the faster shipping methods will only speed up your shipping by a couple of days, in most cases for a huge upcharge. If you can, choose the basic option and wait the small amount of extra time.
While shopping online it’s important that you take the proper precautions. Don’t enter your baking information on a website that is not verified or does not look official. Check the site with the Web of Trust add-on available for many different browsers. When choosing between using a credit card or debit card to pay for things, always choose credit if you have the money to back up your purchase. Once you give your information out hackers, however unlikely, have the chance to steal this information. They have more options with your debit card than a credit card you can easily dispute claims with.
Incorporating these tips into your next online buying experience will make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. No matter who you are, everyone can find something to buy online, especially if you hate going out in public like me. Enjoy!
