There are a few uncomfortable experiences I’ve had with sushi throughout the years. All of them have been when I’ve eaten way too much. Suffice it to say, I am a huge sushi lover and when I visit or move somewhere, looking up where I can get a good helping of sushi is one of the first things on my to-do list. Here are a few places to get sushi in Eugene.
Izumi Sushi and Grill
Featuring a modern look, premium bar, and of course delicious sushi and Asian food, Izumi Sushi and Grill is a staple of downtown Eugene for the hip young Sushi lover. Popular with the college crowd, Izumi offers a little bit of everything. They’re located at 2773 Shady View Drive, and can be reached at 541-683-1201 for hours or to make a reservation.
Voted best sushi in 2008, Sushi Domo offers some extremely tasty sushi rolls. Specializing mainly in sushi, they do offer other plates for those in your group that may not be particularly taken by sushi. They offer two locations for your convenience, one at 1020 Green Acres Road, the other at 2835 Oak Street. Both locations hours are 11am to 9pm Monday through Thursday, 11am to 9:30pm Friday, 4pm to 9:30pm Saturday. They are closed Sundays. For more information, give them a call. Sushi Island Japanese Restaurant
This full service Japanese restaurant offers a variety of traditional and Americanized delicacies. Featuring a sushi belt for a unique experience you don’t usually see this side of the Mississippi, Sushi Island Japanese Restaurant 7 days a week from 11am to 9:30pm. Pure Eugene offers Premium fresh sushi, sake, and other Japanese and mainland favorites in a hip setting. One of their big selling points is that they offer fresh, real snow crab in all of their crab rolls. They are also very accommodating to food allergies and sensitivities, and can accommodate most dishes for gluten-free needs. They’re located in the 5th Street Market at 296 East 5th Street. A small hometown sushi destination, Sushi Ya offers a great selection of fresh sushi, with ingredients that they stand by. They are insistent that if you want something in a menu item changed for your meal, let them know and they will make sure it happens, whether it is simply for taste or for an allergy or food sensitivity.
