Graduations are for each level of schooling our children transition through, a celebration of their accomplishments. Although we may be aware that someone is graduating and have been invited to the ceremony, we sometimes forget about a gift. Looking for last minute gifts can leave you wandering through stores frantically in search of one.
Here are a few last minute gift ideas that most any kindergartener would love to receive on that special day.
A trip to the zoo – I can’t imagine there is not a child that doesn’t love animals or would enjoy a trip to the zoo. Why not make your last minute gift a ticket to the zoo for the little graduate. This is surely a gift that will bring a smile to their face and fill them with excitement and anticipation for the day they will make the trip. Lions and Tigers and Bears…… . Oh my! With so many interesting varieties of animals to see a trip to the zoo can prove to be an educational experience outside the traditional classroom. I would think that for such small children to see such enormous animals like the elephant or a giraffe would be a moment that they would remember for the rest of their lives. It must have been a moment such as this that had the zoo keeper grow up to be a zoo keeper.
A Pizza Party – What child does not like pizza, well, OK, there are some, but I think this would be a pretty safe gift to give at the last minute. Most places offer you the opportunity to buy gift certificates and they can include tokens if it is a pizza place with games to be played such as Chuckie Cheese. I remember taking my children there and they would always be so excited to play the games, win the tickets and pick, out a prize in the end. One of my two children was actually afraid of the giant mouse, much to my surprise, but overall it was a fun and exciting time when we went there.
Movie Tickets – I think this is always a great gift to give, especially with the cost of movie tickets these days. There are usually one or more movies that are of interest to children. You can purchase them a ticket and include candy, popcorn and a soda depending on how much you plan on spending. At most theaters you can buy such tickets that will be open for use in the future with a long expiration date so if there is nothing of interest to them currently playing, they can wait until something comes out that they are interested in. If you want to be really creative, even when it is last minute, you can go to your local $ . 99 Cent store and purchase a plastic popcorn container, they are designed to look like the old time movie boxes. Put a little paper in the bottom, fill it with some candy and the movie tickets and stick a bow on it, you can even attach a balloon or two to make it more festive.
Miniature Golf – Most miniature golf places have much more to offer than just golf. Generally, you have the choice of playing your game inside or outside, upstairs or down. It’s fun for the kids from the very beginning when they get to pick up their club and ball and run to Hole #1 to begin their game. When I would take my children miniature golfing they always wanted to keep their own scorecard and pencil, they found it fun to keep track of their own score. When they are not playing golf they can enjoy a number of games inside like video games, air-hockey and a variety of other games. You could include some gift tokens to go along with the golfing gift, that way they get to enjoy some of everything that is offered them.
