What’s one of the most recurring monsters in all of horror movies and television series, especially in recent years? If you guessed zombies, you guessed correct, from the Living Dead movies to the the many video game renditions, to the ever popular Walking Dead comic and television series, the undead horde seems to have us surrounded these days. (escapistmagazine) Zombies are both terrifying and fascinating, while all evidence shows that there’s no real way that they come to life in the form we’ve seen in movies and on television, it doesn’t keep the public from looking for ways that it might actually happen some day. (abovetopsecret) It’s fun to imagine what the world would be like if everything broke down and suddenly we were faced the hordes of walkers chasing after those of us walking the Earth right now. (philosophyetc) While it could be the most horrifying thing anyone would ever have to experience, it’s also possible that the people left living are even more dangerous and deadly than those who’ve turned into zombies around us, as we’ve seen in The Walking Dead, sometimes it’s not the biters that you really have to worry about, sometimes it’s the villains still breathing that are more dangerous. (tvline)
While it’s all but accepted that zombies are never going to happen, they’re a figment of horror and science fiction and nothing more, there is always a chance that maybe it could happen, right, I mean it’s not crazy at all to think about that happening, right? (cracked) Human nature causes us to imagine that things that live in the deepest recesses of our mind, the things that terrify us the most in life might step out of our head and into the world before our very eyes. (tinybuddha) Personally, I don’t see a real zombie apocalypse happening, but the one thing that life has taught me is that you never say never, something strange could always occur that makes the impossible come to life, so it’s always best to be prepared. (ashp) While it’s one thing for the average citizen to think about a zombie apocalypse and what that could entail if it were to really come to pass, things get a bit creepy when you find out that your own government is planning a course of action “just in case” zombies really do take over the world. (iflscience) It’s very odd, very awkward, and more than just a little disturbing that the Pentagon is planning for the off chance that an outbreak occurs, I’ve already planned out a couple things if zombies really pop out of the Earth and start chasing after me, it’s nice to see that the government is planning it all out as well.
