Tub full of water
Let’s see, what is a reason why a person might want the tub water to glow? Hmm, well, a child might be more tempted to take his bath, and give you less trouble, if you make his bath water glow. The glowing bath might also be a way to reward your child for helping around the house or for another reason. Even you might like a glowing bath, where you put out candles, and lie back to relax in the warm tub. But whatever your reason for wanting a glowing tub, you’ll be able to make it happen, and do so without putting any chemicals into the water. No, my secret to the glowing tub isn’t glow sticks; those definitely contain chemicals that could leak into the water. For real bath time excitement use tonic water!
Tonic water is not a chemical threat to you or your child’s tub. In fact, it’s an easy way to make ordinary bath water glow so much that the bathroom will look as though many candles are in play. Tonic water is found at any grocery store and contains an element that will create the glow. Quinine, found in tonic water, is the real key to make water glow.
Quinine sort of sounds poisonous, doesn’t it? But don’t worry; it isn’t. It won’t effect your skin, won’t burn your eyes, won’t leave colored residue in your tub, nor will it have any negative effect on you, your child, or your tub. Simply run your bath water – put in bubbles if you want – and fill the tub as high as you desire. Open a bottle of tonic water and pour it into the tub, too. You’ll quickly see the glow that makes this bath time amazing. Turn the light off for the full effect.
A single bottle of tonic water will usually suffice for a shallow tub that a child might be in. For a deeper water level it could be necessary to add another bottle to produce the amount of the glow that you prefer.
It’s always fun to add new things to your life – and to your child’s life; tonic water is just one way to do that. Now, when bath time comes around, you won’t have to fight your child; he’ll be happy to climb into the tub. Just keep several quarts of the tonic water on hand so that every bath night will be exciting and fun.
