It’s almost that time again! The sun and the warm weather are coming! It’s time to break out the tank tops, the shorts, make the iced tea, and to take in the sights, the sounds, and the sweet blossoming air of summer!
Oh, how I love the beach! Oh, wait a minute … I wonder if I can still get into that bathing suit I bought last fall? What a great buy, and was just my size … at the time.
We all go up and down in weight, and sometimes, as I did, we go much further up than down. When I didn’t fit into any of last summer’s clothes, I stepped onto the scales and discovered the inevitable, that through the sedentary winter season, and holidays full of my favorite edibles, that I had packed on an extra 12 pounds! That may not sound like much to some, whom I am sure have battled the bulge longer and harder than me, but I believe I have found the right way to lose weight quickly, safely and effectively for the long term.
A few years ago, my sister conquered her long-time battle with being overweight by reading “The Zone” by Dr. Barry Sears. I remembered that she had lost weight fast, and she has remained at her ideal weight for the last 8 years. I wanted to achieve life lasting results too, so I gave it a try.
“The Zone” diet allows you to eat normally, as we should without starving us, or without going all one way, such as, only eating protein, or only eating carbohydrates, etc. We are designed to consume a balance of nutrients, and on a very regular basis – 3 square balanced meals per day with 2 or 3 healthy snacks in between. The basic concept is to eat your meals at consistent times each day, and to have a balance between proteins, carbohydrates and fats in each meal. All of that is determined by your age, gender and height.
After the first of the year, I began this very easy to follow eating plan, and found that I was actually eating much more under “The Zone” plan than I used to eat under my personal, overly indulgent eating plan! Aside from eating in this manner, I have changed nothing else in my daily regimen. I lost 10 pounds within the first 30 days!
