A beloved garden makes the perfect oasis for a peaceful walk or spending time with family. Of course, you’ll have flowers, trees and possibly vegetables and herbs in your private park but what about a few decorations? Garden decorations catch the eye and add a touch of whimsy to a walkway, flowerbed or a sprawling lawn. Garden decorations also frighten away unwanted pests that might want to snack on your flowers. Want to employ some garden decoration ideas in your slice of garden heaven? Start here!
Garden Decorating Ideas: Fence Art
If you have a fence, you have the perfect backdrop for a swanky piece of garden art. Shabby wooden signs, old wooden windows and even odd antiques look fantastic hanging from a sturdy fence. Display metal suns, butterflies or flowers too. Some home improvement companies sell votive candle holders that hang from a fence. (Imagine your garden lit by candlelight!) Practical items like gardening tools and thermometers make fun pieces as well.
Position mirrors throughout your garden to reflect light and keep critters away. Hang mirrors on shed walls and fences. Hot glue tiny mirrors tree branches. Place a mirror, mirror side up in your bird bath and cover it with water. The light and reflection will attract curious birds. You could also hot glue tiny mirrors to garden stakes and position them around your garden.
Dress Up the Garden with Planters
Placing planters in your garden will create growing spots at different levels. Even plastic containers painted in bright colors add some interesting focal points to a yard. Paint plastic planters in solid colors or try some unusual patterns-you could even write words on the pots. Salvage unusual planters and give them a starring role in your garden. For example, old boots, an old sink or a discarded tub make great planters for flowers! All you need is some potting soil and flowers.
