The Artisans Guild Gallery is dedicated to local heritage and has an excellent assortment of local art from over 50 artists. At one point the gallery housed artwork from a group of inmates at Raiford Prison, a maximum security prison north of town. Today the gallery includes various types of art forms including oil and water color paintings, glass, pottery, photography, and jewelry. Began in 1970, Artisans Guild Gallery has grown extensively and is frequented by many dedicated locals interested in the quality artists and different types of art available.

The Hippodrome is an iconic local theatre and art gallery which attracts nearly a quarter million visitors every year. The theatre houses an eclectic array of Broadway musicals and plays, as well as provides 10 festivals, 12 visual art exhibitions, and over 300 film screenings every year. The Art gallery at the Hippodrome provides 8 annual art exhibits including photography, sculptures, glass art, and many other types of art. Though not an art gallery, the Thornebrook Art Festival is a huge local art festival that has been an annual event in Gainesville for the past 30 years. The Gainesville Fine Arts Association in conjunction with Thornebrook Village put on an excellent art festival with 125 booths, entertainment, children’s activities and more. Locals flock to the festival and many visitors come from the surrounding areas such as Ocala, The Villages, and Lake City.
