As summer approaches and the seashore calls to us, it might be fun to consider some creative ways to use the seashell mementos you pick up while on holiday or vacation. There are really no limits, so after you check out my ideas, I am sure you can come up with some clever ideas of your own!
The ideas for the yard are endless. Tie the seashells to clear fishing line and then decorate a tree, so that it becomes one giant seashell wind chime. The end result is gorgeous. You can also use the small shells as seaside style mulch at the base of the trees.
I like to scatter the shells in the flowerbeds at the base of the plants. I try to use one or two large ones and then a mix of other sizes as the base. I like the idea that I may need to leave the shore after vacation, but I can bring the ocean home to me. Just make sure no living critters are in your shells when you pick them up.
I like to buy hurricane shaped glass candleholders and then I use the shells for supporting the candle. I put the candle in and pour the shells around the bottom. This is a good use for broken shells.
At gatherings and parties, use the shells as various decorations. You can implement them for name cards, napkin holders, and random scattered decorations.
Go ahead and look to the winter holidays by making decorations for the Christmas tree. You can paint the shells, put glitter on them, put sparkles, and stickers. Then just store the decorations in a clear plastic container.
I am a child of the ocean. I absolutely love seashells, and want to display them everywhere. Enjoy my tips for showing off your holiday seashell mementos!
