When you think of Atlanta, Georgia, a few things come to mind. We have the best peaches and peach pie on earth, home grown peanuts and, of course, our world famous Coke a Cola. Even with all of that, you can now add something else to the list: wine bars. There is a growing scene of wine drinkers and wine bars popping up all over the Atlanta area. Let’s talked about some of the more unique wine bars that Atlanta has to offer.
Lets start out the list of wine bars off with a local favorite. The Krog Bar is located at 112 Krog St., Suite 27 in Atlanta. The Krog Bar’s is known for it’s rustic and dimly lit décor that really takes you back. It almost feels like an old tavern that is suppose to be in somewhere in Europe. The wine selection has something for anyone and the staff is very knowledgeable about pairing and matching tastes. The Krog Bar opens at 4:30 pm. The location has a industrial feel to it and parking fills up fast, especially on the weekends.
d’ Vine Wine Bar & Shop
The next wine bar is one that is perfect for taking that special someone out for a drink. This little wine bar has great ambiance and is a very romantic stop to at when out on the town. The d’ Vine Wine Bar is known about town for it’s great cheese plate, and if you know your wines, it will be well worth your time stopping by. The d’ Vine Wine Bar & Shops’ is located at 5486 Chamblee Dunwoody Road in Atlanta. The hours are from noon till 10pm Monday though Wednesday and noon till midnight Thursday though Saturday. The bar is closed on Sunday. Parking is always great and the location is pretty up beat.
From the romance at the d’Vine Wine Bar we move to the more trendy Glenwood. The Glenwood is known as more of a modern hip wine bar that shows off more of the cool side to wine. The atmosphere is one that is very laid back and everyone feels very relaxed in. But don’t think that The Glenwood doesn’t know its wine. They have a great selection of wine and some interesting local verities. The Glenwood has a very knowledgeable staff that is warm and friendly. Their meat and cheese plates are very well crafted and sophisticated. The Glenwood is located at 1263 Glenwood Ave. in Atlanta. The hours for The Glenwood are great if you are a night owl, it opens at 5pm and closes at 3am. Parking for The Glenwood is very plentiful and the neighborhood has a lot of local history.
Cellar 56 is probably the best of the wine bars in Atlanta. Located at 56 East Andrews Dr. in Atlanta Cellar 56 lies within a pretty upscale part of town. The atmosphere class and sophistication is what sets it apart from the rest of the wine bars in Atlanta. The wine selection has it all and the food is prepared perfectly every time. The staff goes above and beyond in service and knowledge of wine. The hours are from 5pm to 11pm and if you decide to check it out, you should get there early. Parking fills up pretty fast in Buckhead at night.
