Sake bars keep popping up all over the Phoenix, Arizona, area. Some have great prices, excellent atmosphere and a fine menu to compliment the entire experience. Let’s take a look at some of the better ones in my opinion. You can decide from there if you want to try it.
Kona Grill completely exceeds all of the other sake bars in the area. This is at least in my opinion. The restaurant sits conveniently in the Scottsdale Fashion Square . The staff is always extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The vibe inside is perfect. It is not only a great place to bring a date, but also a great place to meet people They also have some great happy hour prices. The only down side is parking can be quite the problem sometimes.
In Glendale, AZ, This restaurant has awesome Sashimi, and delicious Sake to go with It is a small restaurant in an Arlizona-looking strip mall. The food and the staff are awesome. You wouldn’t ever expect such great tasting food in this place.. The staff always says hi to me. A few of them even remember me by name. The Sake is high quality with a below-average price. However, the Las Vegas Roll is what really steals my heart. It is delicious. The only complaint I have is the location.
In East Phoenix, Sakana is a great place. You can’t find a better sushi “happy hour” in the valley. And by “happy hour” I mean almost all day every day (exception is Friday and Saturday 5:00 – 8:00 PM). Included in happy hour is a $5.00 Sake Bomb special. How can you beat that?
It can get extremely busy. Call ahead especially if you have a group larger than four. As an added bonus, they do have a nice patio to sit outside when the weather is nice. My only complaint is that the sushi plates are just so big. Then, I have to drink more Sake to take it all down.
This Tempe location is very convenient. You can find it n the group of stores on the NEC of Rural and University Dr in Tempe, just south of the 202. The bar seating is quite nice. The restaurant has a comfortable atmosphere.
The Sake prices always seem to change. However, they always seem reasonable.
The quality of the sushi is not exactly the best. They do have extremely fast service however.
Overall, it’s a good place to go with better than average sake. You can still find better sushi elsewhere.
How many of these places have you been to? What is your favorite?
