The Disney movie Frozen has become a hit for kids and parents everywhere. There are lots of cute ideas for themed birthday parties that kids will love. You can’t have a party without food and fun beverages, so here are some recipes and party snack ideas to go with the Frozen-themed birthday.
Snowflake cut-out sandwiches
Using plain white or wheat sandwich bread, assemble a variety of deli sandwiches that kids and adult guests will love; turkey and cheddar, ham and provolone, almond butter and jelly and tuna and American cheese. Using a large snowflake cookie cutter shape, cut out the cookies and arrange on a bright blue platter.
Chilly cake pops
Assemble cake pops according to recipe directions–there are plenty of recipes online! To decorate for your Frozen party, dip the cake balls in light blue frosting and then roll in coarse sugar. Once they are set, arrange the cake pops upside down on a platter full of the coars sugar. It will look like snow!
Icy lemonade punch
To make the lemonade punch, combine the following in a large punch bowl: 1 frozen lemonade concentrate, 1 liter of ginger ale and 1 small bottle of club soda. Puree 1 cup of frozen blue berries and pour into the punch. If you’d like even more of a blue color, add a couple drops of food coloring. Add plenty of large ice cubes (I love the large square and sphere molds). They will resemble glaciers.
Snowy puppy chow
Start by melting a 1/2 stick of butter, 1 bag of milk chocolate chips and 1 cup of creamy peanut butter over a double boiler. Pour one box of rice chex mix cereal in a large bowl. Once chocolate is smooth, pour over cereal. In batches, shake coated cereal with enough powdered sugar to coat in a large, sealed plastic bag. Pieces will break apart as your shake. Serve as a snowy treat.
Using double boilers, melt 1 package of semi-sweet chocolate chips with a 1/2 stick of butter in one bowl and 1 package of white chocolate chips with a 1/2 stick of butter in another bowl. Dip large marshmallows in the dark chocolate dip and then coat in coconut flakes. Allow to set on parchment paper. Then, dip Oreo cookies halfway in the white chocolate mixture and allow to set. Serve together on a large platter.
