It’s important to note, facial peels should be done under the supervision of a physician. Often they involve rather abrasive chemicals that can cause damage to your skin if not used correctly, so use caution and always make sure you have the ability to remove the peel quickly should you feel the need arise.
Facial peels can, however, help with acne, brighten your skin, and even reduce or prevent wrinkles. I’ll be focusing as much as I can on peels with natural ingredients, and suggest you go for the organic variety of ingredients whenever possible. Non-organic will work, if you are unable to find an organic variety.
Orange Peel Base
To make an orange peel base for a facial peel, take organic oranges and eat them as you wish. Save the peels, and remove the white fibrous stuff on the inside of the peel. Lay the peels out cookie sheets, and leave them for a few days in an area that gets plenty of sun. When they are fully dried, crush the peels into a fine powder, or use a blender to do so. Do not add water. Store the powder in an airtight container, and label it well.
Blemish Reduction Orange Peel
Using the orange peel powder you made before, add organic honey and plain yogurt. 2 teaspoons of the orange peel base, 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of yogurt. Mix them well, and apply the cream gently and evenly over your entire face until the cream is used up. Leave it on your face for about 15 minutes or until it dries, and rinse your face with water to remove the mask.
Acne Reduction Orange Peel
Bring out the orange peel base once again, as well as oatmeal and baking soda. Combine 2 teaspoons of the orange peel base with 1 teaspoon of oatmeal and 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and mix them together well. Apply liberally over your face until it’s all used, and let it dry. When it’s dry, which should take another 15 minutes, wash it off your face. Repeat this regularly to reduce and eliminate acne, as well as prevent acne from showing up.
Oil Reduction Orange Peel
Nobody likes oily skin, but this peel can help reduce that, as well as reduce or prevent acne. Combine the orange peel base from before at 2 teaspoons, with 1 teaspoon each of coconut oil and milk. Mix it well, and once again apply it to your face covering it entirely. Let it dry before removing it with water.
Exfoliating Papaya Enzyme Mask
This is a great mask for exfoliating your skin, the process of removing dead skin cells. Exfoliating is used to renew the look of your skin, and give it a brighter appearance. Simply puree a seeded and skinned papaya. Do the same with pineapple meat, and combine that at a 1:1 ratio in a bowl. Mix well, and add some honey until it turns into somewhat like a gel (so that it’ll stick well to your face, not run off). Apply evenly over your face, and let dry for 15 to 20 minutes. Once dry, wash it off with warm water. Freeze any remaining cream you didn’t use, as using whole pineapples and papayas has a tendency of making about 10 masks worth of product.
