Summertime is almost here! If you’re looking for fun, free activities to enjoy with your family when you visit Branson this summer, look no further. I live 30 minutes from Branson and have two children of my own. Believe it or not, there are free things you can do near Branson.
Lakeside: If you love the beautiful scenery in the Ozarks, make sure to take your family to visit one of the beautiful lakes in Branson, Missouri. You can take a picnic and enjoy a beautiful day with your family. We always take a Frisbee, soccer ball, and a big blanket to spread out on the grass. If you want to fish, fishing licenses are only around $15 dollars. Table Rock lake is my personal favorite.
Branson Landing: The Branson Landing is full of shops and restaurants, but it’s also got a ton of fun free things to do. In the evening, there is a water and light show at the fountains. It’s also right on the water and you’ll often see ducks. You can window shop if you don’t want to spend a ton of money. Also, in the busy months in Branson, there is usually free entertainment on the Landing. Just a couple of dollars will get you a smoothie or coffee and you can relax and enjoy the free show.
Hiking: Visit the U.S. National Parks website and pick a trail to hike! The Ozark Mountains are chalked full of beautiful hiking trails and scenic overlooks. If you hike during the summer months, I recommend taking plenty of water and not hiking in August. That’s the hottest month in the area and extremely humid. Heat stroke can happen quickly. If you don’t mind a drive, visit the beautiful Buffalo River, near Harrison, Arkansas but please don’t litter. This river is stunningly clean and our local marine life is very healthy.
Sunday Gospel: If you love the gospel music in Branson, visit on a weekend and you can visit a number of the theatres or local churches and enjoy free gospel music. Trip Advisor has some suggestions for free shows, such as the Barbara Fairchild Theatre and the Dick Clark Theatre. Shows are usually pretty expensive in Branson, so you can’t beat a free one.
Winery Tour: This may not sound like a family activity, but Branson is very family friendly and it really is neat to see how wine is made. It can be an educational experience for your children and the adults can have a free wine sample. I suggest going to Stone Hill Winery. Visit their website for hours of operation and directions.
Enjoy your vacation in Branson, Missouri. You really don’t have to spend a ton of money to have a blast!
