Having one’s own place means some extra bills to pay beyond the rent. Utilities must be paid. Perhaps they are included in the rent. But if they are not or if you own your place, attention must be paid.
Everyone thinks about the electric bill and the heating bill, but don’t forget the water bill. Many places have a charge for your water usage. It is a charge that can add up and cost you a lot of money. Here are five ways to reduce your water bill.
Dishes and Clothes. Have a machine that washes these everyday items? Well, don’t run the darn thing unless it is full. Run it half full & you will run it twice as often as you need to. That is water down the drain. (Not to mention the soap.)
Take a shower rather than a bath. This is simple. It takes less water to give you a wonderful shower than it will to fill your bath tub. Less water = save $$$.
If a tub is a must…. When you are done, do not drain the tub. Instead, use the water that is left for other things. You can water plants or fill your toilet tanks as you flush.
When you are out & about…. In a restaurant or a store? Use the rest room before you leave. Then you will need to ‘go’ that much less when you get home. Fewer flushes = save $$$. Of course, for heath reasons this may be easier for men than women.
Don’t flush every time… What? Every time you flush, you use water: a lot of water. If you just skip a flush or two when there is merely a little pee in there, you can save big time!. Back in the 60’s a hippie I knew had a saying over the toilet: “If it’s yellow, let it mellow. If it is brown, flush it down.” Fewer flushes means less water used. The savings will be yours!
Use less water and save big money on your water bill.
