I finally went over to the dark side; I purchased my first smartphone. After my son threw my cell phone and broke it in half, I went in search for a new phone. I wasn’t planning on purchasing a smartphone. However, the salesperson gave my husband a teacher discount on our monthly bill, a free phone and $100 credit in accessories. How could I resist? The good news is I have discovered how to make money with my smartphone. Even better, I have learned how to make money shopping for everyday items like food and toilet paper. These three money making apps allow me to earn extra cash for shopping.
Ibotta is an app that gives you money back for buying certain products. Before shopping, you can unlock rebates through short activities like playing trivia. Then, scan and verify your product and take a picture to redeem your rebate. You can have money deposited into your Paypal or Venmo account or you can redeem your money for a gift card.
Shopkick is a great app that rewards you for doing simple things such as walking into a store. Shoppers also receive “kicks” for scanning product barcodes and purchasing products from certain stores. You are given a daily kick for opening the app and you can also receive “surprise kicks” for looking through the lookbooks. One of the other ways to receive kicks is to invite friends. Currently, members are given “2,000 kicks for every three friends” that join. While you can’t redeem for cold hard cash, you can choose a gift card from a wide range of stores such as Target, Starbucks and Macys! Gift cards start at $5.
This app is quite simple. When you shop at grocers, supercenters, club stores, dollar stores, drug stores, convenience stores, beauty supply or pet supply stores, you can take a picture of your receipt and get rewarded. It’s important to take a clear picture and include the date in your image. You earn coins for your receipts. When you submit receipts for five consecutive weeks, you can “Go Hog Wild,” meaning you will receive a spin on the slot machine where you can possibly earn more coins. Product scans, Facebook connect and friend invites are other ways to earn. You can turn in your coins for money (sent to Paypal account) or Amazon gift cards. For this app, it’s better to accumulate more points before cashing out.
Making money shopping is fun and easy!
