Pregnancy is a trying time for all women. Concerns about dietary needs, stretch marks, taking care of older children, and most importantly, the health of the baby growing inside us take precedence. Many women feel too exhausted to care about much more and start to feel unattractive, especially when we can barely bathe in our later months.
A healthy baby is most important, but don’t forget about yourself. Mustering the energy to add a few extra steps to your routine will make you feel better about yourself overall instead of just overweight and overwhelmed.
We all know that pregnant women are beautiful yet a lot of the time we don’t feel that way ourselves. New lipstick , bubble bath or lotion could be all it takes to brighten your day. The struggle with clothing is universal when it comes to burgeoning bellies. There has been a resurgence in maternity clothing that is not only fashionable but comfortable, including bras and undies. Don’t forget about your hair; bi-weekly salon visits for a simple scalp massage, shampoo, and blowout can put you back into sexy mama mode.
It is imperative to take time out for yourself. Pampering is important. Many spas cater to pregnant women and if that isn’t an option in your budget or time, at-home spa days are a must. A cup of hot tea, a good book, and soaking your feet will rejuvenate your spirit and provide you with much needed time to relax while giving your feet a break. Also, it is okay to say no to obligations from friends and family members when you are tired or not up to socializing. Take it from me; being heavily pregnant and going on vacation for a family reunion is not recommended. You and the baby come first.
Yes, the sex card is pretty extreme but it’s a natural occurrence that yes, got you pregnant in the first place. Having sex while pregnant is safe and important for relationships and makes you feel more attractive. It not only helps close the strange pregnancy gap between spouses, it increases endorphins so that you are happier with your body.
Pregnancy is tough, but it is also fun and should be cherished. It seems to go by so slowly but in retrospect, it seems so fast. Enjoying your pregnancy and knowing that there are ways to make you feel more attractive, more content, and more in tune with the budding baby inside you is makes for happy memories.
