As Father’s Day approaches, it is time to give kudos to all those solid men who continuously support their families as a father should. Most importantly, it is time to recognize celebrity dads who don’t only support their biological children, but also dare to adopt other people’s children and raise them as their own. Here is a look at celebrity dads who adopted and the trials they went through to do so.
Following fiancé Angelina Jolie’s footsteps, Brad Pitt joined the list of celebrities who adopted and care for children who were once total strangers to them. Jolie had adopted a son Maddox prior to meeting Pitt, but in 2005, Brad Pitt joined Angelina Jolie to adopt their daughter, Zahara Marley from Ethiopia, later followed by Pax Thien from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The couple also have three biological children: daughter Shiloh Nouvel who was born in Namibia, South Africa, and twins Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon, who were born in Nice, France. The couple had trouble adopting Pax due to Vietnamese regulation that unmarried couple could not co-adopt. Therefore, Angelina had to adopt him alone, then later changed the surname to Jolie-Pitt as she did with the other children.
It’s interesting and admiring to observe Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as they raise their family of six children. Most people adopt because they can’t conceive their own biological child or don’t want to have a biological child. This couple is able to and did conceive, yet they have three adopted children with their three biological ones. It is incredible to see how the parents dote on their children, all six of them, and how they are very active in the cause for human improvement via green living and as goodwill ambassador to the United Nations.
Career wise, all Brad Pitt touches seems to turn to gold. He had starred in films like Thelma and Louise and other blockbusters. His latest work is called Fury, and is due this November 14 in theaters across the USA, although it’d be out earlier in Europe. In Fury, Brad Pitt plays a tough army sergeant called Wardaddy, who is in charge of a crew on a dangerous mission to strike at the enemy; the Nazi Germany in 1945. His other recent movies include World War Z and 12 Years a Slave.
Other famous celebrity dads who have adopted include Steven Spielberg, Ty Burrell, Josh Kelley and Katherine Heigl, Lionel Richie who of course adopted Nicole Richie, and Tom Cruise. Happy Father’s Day to our celebrity dads and all the fathers who do their best every day to provide for their children and to model responsible behavior!
