Fireworks and Fountains at Longwood Gardens

($38 for ages 16 and over; $22 for ages 15 and under; members get reduced rates)
Listen to Big Band and Broadway tunes while enjoying fireworks and colorful fountains amidst the beautiful greenery. Guests should bring a folding chair and can start reserving space in the viewing area after 3 p.m.; blankets are not permitted.
Memorial Day Barbecue at Sesame Place
100 Sesame Road, Langhorne
May 24-26 (check site for times)
($27 for ages 10 and over; $17 for ages 2-9; free for ages 2 and under)
Share a holiday barbecue with your favorite Sesame Street characters in Big Bird’s Riverside Pavilion. The meal is followed by fireworks (Saturday and Sunday only), set to Sesame Street music. Paid park admission (ranging from $45-$65 each) is required in addition to the fee for the barbecue. Season pass members save 30 percent.
Special Programming at National Constitution Center
525 Arch Street, Philadelphia

A host of activities honor the holiday, including flag ceremonies in the morning and evening, a patriotic karaoke station, craft activity stations, a thank-a-vet letter station, a special program on memorials, the Liberty Tree show, a flag etiquette workshop and a giant flag folding activity. Special Tour at the Second Bank of the United States
Chestnut Street between 4th and 5th streets
3 p.m., May 24 and 25
Take a special 30-minute gallery tour with a park ranger to learn about the struggles and sacrifices of the military during the American Revolution. The museum, which is free, houses a collection of 100 portraits, mostly by Charles Wilson Peale.
Delaware River Maritime Day
Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing
10 a.m. to 6 p.m., May 24
Maritime Day highlights include competitive boat races, free swan and kayak rides, demonstrations, exhibits and vendors. All events on the Great Plaza are free.
The nearby Independence Seaport Museum will also be holding special events, such as maritime-themed LEGO creations, all included in the admission ($13.50 for adults; $10 for children).
