Winning prizes in Marvel Puzzle Quest Dark Reign requires good strategy. Scoring high in Player versus Player Featured Events takes more than just strong characters. It takes a serious commitment to play time and careful planning. Here are some tips that have allowed me to collect many prizes, and even win some Featured Events.
Take an Early Lead in Featured Events
Winning Player versus Player (PvP) Featured Events requires taking an early lead and staying with the head of the pack. PvP matches win only a few points, about 20 on average. If you fall far behind the leaders you’ll never place high enough to earn the best prizes. An early lead was a key factor in my winning the Blind Justice tournament. I happened to be playing the game at noon right when the tournament started. Since then, Marvel Puzzle Quest has added in game posts to announce the dates of Featured Events days in advance. If you want to win, plan to dive in at the very start.
Plan to Play Until Midnight
Many Featured Events begin and end at midnight EST. The best prizes are awarded to the top five scores, and sometimes only the top two. My first place victory in Blind Justice was a battle to the very last minute. Because PVP matches score so few points, battles for top placing scores are constant and brutal. This is why you need to take an early lead and stay near the top. Conserve your best resources for the knockdown battle in the last hour of the event.
Pace Yourself in Player versus Environment Events
Missions in Player versus Environment (PvE) Featured Events recharge the amount of points you can earn in a match over time. Don’t spend all your resources, such as health packs and boosts, replaying missions that are low on points. Not only is it a waste of resources, you’ll make yourself bored and tired with the game. PvE events can run longer than a week. It becomes a struggle to keep your rank up in the final hours. Pace yourself. Give Missions time to recharge points while you rest.
Keep your prize goals in mind. Environmental events are broken into mini-events. Mini events offer various levels of Recruit Tokens and Iso-8 crystals as prizes. These tokens may offer you new characters that allow you to play additional missions with high point values. Often, several mini events run simultaneously. If your goal is winning Recruit Tokens, then push to get tops scores in mini events. Focus on winning one mini event. If you are doing well in the PvE event over all, or are trying to win a specific character, your time may be better spent playing multiple mini events so that you can play higher scoring missions, adding the most points to your overall score.
