At some point, most people have skin that looks uneven in color, has dry patches, splotches, or even acne scars. How do you know which products to use? I can help. These are the top five products that actually work for evening out your skin tone.
My Favorite Product
I love trying new beauty products and the Neutrogena Microdermabrasion Kit is my favorite “go to” tool for almost any skin problem. It’s gentle but gets rid of dead skin cells that can make your skin look splotchy. It brightens your skin, no matter what skin tone you have. While you’re evening out your skin tone, you’ll also be fighting wrinkles, acne, and sagging. If I get a pimple and use this microdermabrasion kit on it; it’s usually gone within 24 hours. The refill pads can get expensive, so I normally use mine two or three times before I buy a new one. Also, make sure you don’t use this around your eyes because the skin there is more fragile.
A Cheap Fix
If you want a cheap fix for uneven skin tone, try Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask. It’s under five dollars and gently peels away dead skin for a clean and even skin tone. I do this at least once a week with my daughter who is fifteen. It helps with skin tone, acne, and even shrinks pores. It’s a green masque that you let dry on your face. You can feel your skin tightening while it dries. Rinse with warm water to remove it and cold water to seal your pores. You’ll notice an immediate glow to your skin and a more even tone.
If you are seriously short on time and can’t give yourself a mini-facial, try washing your face and gently rubbing in circles with a wash cloth. Follow this up with moisturizer and a liquid foundation that you’ve mixed together in either a bottle or the palm of your hand. Don’t slather it all over your face. Just put a dot or two or each cheek, the forehead, and chin. Blend, blend, and blend some more. You’re skin will look even for the day.
Acid Peel at Home
It sounds scary doesn’t it? Well, you should be careful not to get it in your eyes or leave it where children can reach it, but it does work wonders on uneven skin tone. Try a product like L’Oreal Anti-Age Glycolic Peel Kit. I love this product. I noticed an immediate result as far as my skin tone was concerned. I have problems with dry patches on my forehead and my some faint acne scars. This is easy to use but does take about half an hour altogether. So make sure you have the time.
My mother is in her 60s and has beautiful skin. She does have some wrinkles but not many for someone her age and her skin is incredibly even toned. She swears that good old Noxzema is responsible for her stunning glow. She started using the cream as a teenager and has faithfully continued to use it ever since. She doesn’t use the acne pads. She uses the original kind of Noxzema; the cream that you rub on your face or use for sunburns. It may help with skin tone because it moisturizes so well and controls acne. I’m sure this product would help with any skin type.
All of these fixes are fairly inexpensive and actually work.
