From the moment your vehicle pulls up in the grocery store parking lot, as you enter the building, walk up and down the aisles, and even in the checkout line, you may unwittingly become caught up in your own shopping experience. This may at times cause you to become oblivious, to other customers, and cause them an inconvenience.
People often quote the Golden rule, which is “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” In my opinion however, when it comes to the grocery store, some individuals seem to have the attitude of the words on a Tshirt I saw decades ago, which were: “Do unto others then split.” Here are 5 tips that will help you to not infringe upon the rights of others.
1. Keep your cart out of the center of the aisle
While choosing groceries, please be considerate and keep your grocery cart out of the middle of the aisles. This hinders other shoppers from getting by, especially those who may have a handicap and ride in those special vehicles.
2. Don’t block the aisles while holding conversations,
Three or four people holding a reunion are blocking the aisle, and the products on the shelves from other shoppers. This is rude, and will impede others, especially the elderly from getting through the aisle.
3. Keep your cart where it belongs
I cannot count the number of times, that people in front of me leave their carts behind them, or walk off leaving them at the end of the check out line. This meant I had to move their cart in order to put my food on the counter.
The cart should be in front of you, as you take out your groceries . Should you not need to take the shopping basket out of the store, please put it with the other carts. Store employees and other customers should no have to do this, because you would not.
4. Have your money ready
By the time the cashier has wrung up your groceries you should have our cash or card in hand. Waiting until you hear your total before pulling ut your card or cash holds up those in line behind you.
5. Put your cart back where it belongs
My oldest son worked for a grocery store. he had to go out and round up carts in the rain sow ad cold weather. Customers would leave carts very far from the store. Because of this I often return carts that I did not use whee I find the out of place.
