The Easter season is always fun in Roanoke, Va, and 2014 will be no different. There are many activities for children and adults alike. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt, on Saturday April 19th 2014 in Downtown Roanoke, at Elmwood Park. The time is 11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
Crossroads community church is located just off Hershberger rd. in NW Roanoke, next to Taco Bell. They will host a barbecue, bounce house and Easter Egg hunt, on Saturday April 19th. My husband and I took our oldest grandson two years ago. We all had a really nice time. The food was delicious, and all the children had fun finding Easter eggs.
Hotel Roanoke and Conference center will have their annual dual Easter brunch. It will be on Easter Sunday morning, from 11:30 -2:30 in their Roanoke ballroom. From 11:00-6:00 there will be food in the Hotel’s historic Regency Room.
Fellowship Community Church has rented the Salem football field, which is located next to the Salem Civic Center to bring forth the biggest Easter Egg hunt that I have ever heard of in this area. They will drop 50,000 eggs from a helicopter on Saturday April 12th. This is open to the entire community. The fun begins at 9:00 a.m and lasts until noon.
Three local churches, First Baptist Gainsboro, Greene Memorial and First Church of the Brethren, hold an annual Easter sunrise service on Mill Mountain. It begins at 6:00 a.m.on Easter Sunday morning. Loudon Ave. Christian Church, located at 730 Loudon Ave. NW Roanoke,will host a Community Lenten Celebration. on 3 consecutive Wednesdays, from noon until 12:30 p.m.,
On April 2nd, the speaker will be Reverend Sylvia Ball, pastor of Sweet Union Baptist church. On April 9th Reverend Joseph Keaton of Central Baptist Church, and on April 16th Reverend Melton Johnson, pastor of First Baptist church Salem.
