Gift-giving is synonymous with the holidays and it is a great way to show your love and affection. However, when your list is filled with guys, it’s hard to know what items to assemble for a basket. Let’s face it-it’s pretty impossible to find a pre-filled basket for an adult male that won’t cost you an arm and a leg. If you’re experiencing this quandary, I’ve got some inspiration for you. As a former gift basket designer, I know some tips that will make any basket you design perfect. Ready?
Pick the right basket. It’s the focal point of your gift and it must hold up to the weight of your gift items. Kids love painted, wicker baskets stuffed with plastic, green grass but guys? Not so much. Get creative! For a beer lover, an empty case makes a good basket. A pail, a large toiletry bag or even a toolbox makes a good basket. Presentation really is everything.
Use a variety of items from different price points. When it is the kids, stuffing a basket with dollar items is the way to go. For the men on your list, that may not fly. Fill your basket with items from different price points; one expensive gift and several less expensive gifts. Use the Easter eggs and candies as basket fillers.
Run with a theme. Okay, so yes, it is Easter but that is a tough theme to use for a guy unless a nice leather Bible and a cross necklace is okay. (Which it could be.) Pick a gift theme and run with it!
Need some help with a theme? Try these man pleasers!
- Barbecue Master: Apron, personalized barbecue tools, special sauces and even BBQ flavored chips and treats.
- Card Shark: Does your guy love poker or cards? Card strategy guides, poker chips, decks of cards and even snacks are great for an Easter basket.
- Fierce Fisherman: Does your husband or Dad love to fish? Buy a tackle box and fill it with tasty lures like gummy worms. Peruse the tackle shop for a bunch of new lures, bobs and whatever you can find.
You can do it! It just takes a little out of the box thinking and creativity. Have fun!
