There are all types of domestic abuse for adults and children and they all leave scares. Our society is finally starting to see domestic abuse for the ugly truth it is. For the most part we think of “domestic” abuse as only abuse on women; however, “domestic” abuse is any abuse that happens in the home. Abuse happens to women, men and children. Abuse should be everybody’s concern. If we look the other way when we know a person is being abused we are just as guilty as the abuser. Because by looking the other way, we are saying it is acceptable behavior. We are also telling the victim it is her/his fault. (https://www.essortment.com)
Many times we do not recognize that abuse is going on. We do not really know what the signs of this type of abuse looks like. Emotional abuse shows up in many forms. It is very hard to recognize it when we are not close to the abused person. (https://www.livestrong.com) Emotional abuse can be neglect in some form or another; for example: with holding food, with holding love and affection, with holding finances, or clothing. Anytime one person with holds essential needs from another person it is called emotional abuse.
This kind of abuse is easier to recognize because the abuser does not care if other people around hear it going on; in fact the more the better. This kind of abuse is usually in the form of name calling, sarcastic or negative remarks, or cruel jokes in front of other people. (https://www.healingemotionalabuse.com)
These kinds of abuse leave unseen scares that are just as bad maybe worse than the black and blue marks everyone can see. Bruises go away on the outside; however, they leave emotional scars also. It is every person’s responsibility to report abuse. (https://www.nccafv.org)
