Batista returned at Raw before Royal Rumble and he awaited a hero welcome. Sadly, that was not the case. People were chanting too much about his two heroes: Daniel Bryan and CM Punk. Finally at Royal Rumble when Daniel Bryan loses against Bray Wyatt and doesn’t enter the Royal Rumble and CM Punk was eliminated by Kane, the crowd was furious when Batista won the event. He was told by the company that he will become champion in WrestleMania, but that was very far for reality. After a lot of boos for the fans, the company didn’t have other option than make Batista a heel. In this article I will talk about the probability of a face turn by Batista after his movie.
The history of wresters that take a break to do movies has been higher than hands fingers. Superstars like The Rock, Triple H, The Miz, Ted Dibiase, Randy Orton, Kane and most recently Batista are some of the big list of stars that have tried to hit a Home Run in Hollywood. Of all of these superstars, the most successful has been The Rock. At first, The Rock was doing cheap movies, but now he has become a great movie star and one of the hottest actors ever. The question is: how does the WWE Universe treats their heroes after they return for doing movies? The answer is: it varies. After Ted Dibiase and The Miz return for doing The Marine prequels, the fans didn’t care for them. After The Rock return on 2012, the fans were outrageous and exciting about his return. They cheered for The Rock and booed for Cena for WrestleMania 28 and 29. After Randy Orton returns from doing his movie, the crowd responded well too. Now Batista will return after his promotion of the movie Guardians of the Galaxy. This is a high budget movie. It is a movie for Marvel, the greatest movie franchise in the past two or three years. If the movie is a hit and Batista performance in the movie is very badass and Batista returns to help Daniel Bryan from Brock Lesnar, then Batista probably would receive an standing ovation. Batista have a very uncertain future in the WWE right now, if he gets another title run and defeats Brock Lesnar for the championship (assuming Brock Lesnar will beat Daniel Bryan) then he will have his deserving cheers and WWE moment, so he could retire and become a WWE legend and hall of famer.
In conclusion, it is very difficult to predict what will happen with Batista in the WWE, because WWE is all about money and contracts. If Batista decides that he doesn’t want to return and continue to do Hollywood movies then his last run was a waste of time. Although I am confident that Batista will return after his movie and will get the outstanding ovation he deserves. His last WWE run will be a memorable one.
