I hate dieting, but at times it is a necessary evil. The typical concessions stands at sports games are not exactly known for their array of healthy choices. How can a person find healthy choices at a sports game? Check out some of the less terrible choices below.
If You Want Salty Food…
Be cautious of eating anything too salty, so be certain to drink plenty of water.
Popcorn is definitely a better choice than french fries. It is best for you if you avoid any topping, but if you must, choose one, like butter or salt, and go light on that. Bonus, it is a whole grain.
Peanuts have good protein and having to shell them yourself with slow down your munching. Make sure portion control is on your radar so you don’t eat too much of a good thing.
A Soft Pretzel is a great option, but you will want to opt for an unsalted version. You could dip it in mustard, or salt it yourself so you can control how much sodium you use.
If You Are Craving Sweets
When the sweet tooth starts demanding attention it feels impossible to ignore. When that happens, there are not very many decent options out there, but the least bad options are either a popsicle or a small scoop of ice cream. Candy bars and cotton candy are possibly the worse choices out there, so don’t do that.
If You Are Really Hungry
If you are feeling in need of a full meal avoid some things, which are pure junk, like nachos. Instead consider a plain grilled burger or hot dog. If it is possible try for a wheat bum, but I realize that may not be an option. Pizza is a triangle laden with fat. Don’t do it, or if you must opt for veggie toppings.
Everyone knows that water is best, but that is not always exactly what you want, especially at the game. Choose light beer if you must have alcohol, but diet soda is an ok choice as well.
Another way to tackle this is to try to eat very healthy before and after this outing, but the biggest point about this article is to be health conscious when attending these events. Many try not to think about it, or simply forget about it. Don’t.
