Spring is here which means that summer is coming. We all want to get our hot beach bodies so we can go to the beach house with our families in June! All I can say is to start today! Not tomorrow, not next week, we don’t have time to wait!
I have been through this all before. About two years ago, I was planning a trip to go to Hawaii. Yes, I said Hawaii. I looked at myself in the mirror and I decided that I was not going to go to the most beautiful place (that I know of) in the world and look the way that I did. It was time to change. I did not have a lot of time to prepare. I was going on this trip with a close friend, and we had been talking about it for quite a while, but it only became a reality about 2 months before we actually left for our destination. This means I had two months! Only two months to get a sexy body! I had to make changes hardcore right then and there.
That night, I decided I would use a journal. A journal to record my progress, my diet, my exercise, and anything else I had to do that would help with my weight loss. I believed watching my progress would help motivate me. I wrote down my weight for a start point. I had about 26 pounds to lose. Could I do it?
I went to the grocery store. I was changing my diet. I decided that doing something similar to the Paleo Diet would be the best way to go. The Paleo Diet is similar to the way that people ate in the “old days”; which means all natural food and no processed or refined food. Now, I had to be realistic. I knew if I completely cut myself off from all processed food that I would break real soon. To solve this problem, I created limits. For example, I limited myself to only allow 100 calories of chocolate a week and only one bowl of cereal a week.
I also did my research and made a plan with my calorie intake. With my weight, height, and daily activity; I figured out how many calories I should be eating a day. This was my new calorie limit for each day moving forward. If I wanted to eat more food through out the day, it had to be healthy fruits and veggies because they have less calories. I also made a minimum requirement for my water intake. This is because I was going to need more water when I started exercising. Water also helps cleanse the toxins out of the body. I cam e to find that drinking water helped me feel satisfied when I felt like I wanted more food when I did not need it.
The second most important thing to getting the body I wanted was to exercise! I was not in a good habit of doing that either. Once again, I had to make realistic goals. I was going to workout 5 days out of 7 days a week. At least a half hour each day. I had three days for cardio workouts because that really helps with losing fat and then I had two days for toning muscles, using weights, etc.
I was determined to go to Hawaii with confidence and to have the time of my life! I stuck to my diet of natural food, I kept my calorie limits, I drank my water, and kept my exercise goals for these two months. I did not have an option in my mind to do anything else. Believe it or not, I lost 28 pounds! I was ready to go on the trip of my life!
