Denver is definitely a burger town, and a lot of local restaurants do a ½ pound patty proudly. There are plenty of creative burgers around town, but these five picks below are my favorite must-try recommendations. The burgers are unique, flavorful and perfect for a lunch with friends or happy hour dinner.
Whittier Pub at 28th and Race
If you come across this cute neighborhood pub, you’ve got to try their Beatnick burger. I prefer the single patty, but you can order a double if you’d really like to indulge! The Beatnick is a beef patty smothered in beef red chili and spicy queso. Dip your side of fries in the gooey sauce; you will return here weekly!
The Kitchen in LoDo
The Kitchen is a little more upscale than your neighborhood bar, but it’s worth the visit for their Colorado lamb burger. The meat is so flavorful and moist. The red pepper relish that comes on top pairs perfectly with the gamier taste of the lamb. Their hand-cut fries are also worth the trip in!
Park and Co. on 17th Street
The Scarpone is a must-try burger if you live near or are visiting the mile high city. It’s an all-beef patty topped with crispy prosciutto, melted provolone, giardiniera and truffled, garlicky mayo. The crispy prosciutto makes this burger!
Tag Burger Bar at 12th and Madison
This is another great neighborhood spot in Congress Park. Grab a local pint and order a beef or bison burger Colorado Proud style. The burger is topped with roasted Pueblo green chilies, lettuce, tomato and local Haystack Mountain goat cheese whipped with honey. This place has plenty of delicious burger combinations, so there’s something for everyone!
The Cherry Cricket in Cherry Creek North
You just can’t go wrong with the original Cricket Burger. I like to build my own and add peanut butter and bacon. It sounds a little strange, but it will ignite your taste buds and you’ll never think of a burger the same way again. Order their seasoned fries to complete your meal.
