Forget the “up and coming” description when it comes to Denver as a top destination for food enthusiasts and locals. Denver offers plenty of flavors for your palate’s preferences and each of the restaurants below hit a 10 on the tasty scale. Don’t miss these Denver-based restaurants if you’re new to the area or here for a visit!
1. Steuben’s Food Service on 17th
This is a classic Denver diner for delicious homestyle comfort food, burgers and sandwiches and cocktails. If you’re there on a warm enough day, sit on their patio. You can’t go wrong with a Moscow Mule or Lone Star brew. If you’re there for lunch, indulge in their Cuban sandwich with a side of gravy fries–you won’t regret it. For dinner, one of the best picks has to be the roasted chicken with vegetables and mashed potatoes. Comfort food at it’s best!
2. Tag Restaurant in Larimer Square
This is the restaurant to hit in downtown Denver if you’re lucky enough to get a table. Or, grab a seat at the bar for lunch or during their social hour. This is just one of several area restaurants lead by Troy Guard’s unique fusion of flavors. The must-try principal small plates are the kobe beef sliders with duck fat fries and the butterfish. The Colorado lamb chop and sushi rolls are perfect for sharing if you can’t decide on only one main course.
3. Sushi Sasa at 15th and Platte
If you’ve been strolling through Commons Park or riding down the Cherry Creek bike trail, make a stop at Sushi Sasa for unique and traditional sushi options. Lined with white tablecloths, the space is intimate, but not pretentious. The caterpillar roll is top-notch–add strawberry for the best sushi bite you’ve ever had.
4. Wash Park Grille on South Gaylord
South Gaylord Street is just a few blocks east of Denver’s famous Washington Park. The block is full of shops, bakeries and restaurants. Wash Park Grille offers a cozy ambiance and even better food. Order the grilled romaine salad and one of their small plates to share. Then, treat yourself to the Colorado lamb meatballs and pappardelle dish.
5. Luca D’Italia at 7th and Grant
If you’re looking for a romantic pick in Denver, make a reservation at Luca D’Italia in Cap Hill. One of Frank Bonanno’s best restaurants, if you love Italian, you’ll love this quaint spot in the city. You must order the Luca Burrata to start–it’s made in-house and pairs perfectly with a glass of wine. There’s something for any taste if you’re craving pasta. And the Duo of Duck and Colorado Striped Bass will not disappoint if you want to share a couple of main courses.
Whether it’s your first time visiting Denver, or you live in the vicinity, these restaurants are always ideal for dinner, drinks and fun!
