If you have young ones in the house, it’s likely they are big fans of Disney’s Frozen . If your kids’ playrooms have taken on the imagination of the kingdom of Arendelle, their next birthdays may very well need the same theme. Here are some decorating ideas if you’re planning to throw a Frozen -themed kids birthday party.
Blue backdrop with hanging snowflakes
At a party store, pick up a light blue or bright blue backdrop sheet. In a corner or from a window in the room where the party will be, hang the backdrop sheet and then hang plastic snowflake strings in front. You could also hang icicle lights (the same ones you use during the holiday season to decorate). Add a princess chair decorated with blue ribbon and snowflake glitter. This will make the perfect backdrop for photos of the party guests.
Frozen -themed photobooth props
To make photobooth props, trace and cut out various shapes to fit the theme such as a crown, scarf, mittens, carrot nose (for Olaf fans!) and reindeer antlers. Get the kids involved and have them decorate the props before you attach them to sticks.
Styrofoam ball Olaf
Since Olaf is a bit of a mis-shaped snowman, I recommend you buy a large styrofoam ball for his base, a small ball for his body and an oval for his head/face. Using long toothpicks, assemble Olaf’s body and then decorate his face with felt eyes, a mouth and a nose. Add arms and buttons, and give him a scarf. He is the perfect party guest greeter or another accompaniment to the photo area.
Ask the kids to help you with large cut-out snowflakes to round out the party room. Make sure you have kid-friendly scissors and lots of light blue and white paper. Add these to the walls and hang them around the room to make it feel more like Arendelle.
You could add a large sign outside with blue balloons that says “Kingdom of Arendelle” and a “Happy Birthday” sign inside adorned with snowflakes and glitter. Add blue tablecloths with glitter and mini adorned pine trees. Your kids will love a party in Arendelle.
