The relaxing experience of a barbecue makes them popular, but that doesn’t mean you have to skip the decorations. You can dress up the BBQ area with a few simple decorations to make the celebration festive.
Theme or No Theme
A theme can help you come up with decoration ideas. A luau is always a fun summer theme for outdoor gatherings. Use tropical decorations to create the theme. A hoedown or Western theme is another option that works well for outdoor events. Use lots of checkered patterns, Western gear and hay to create the theme.
The tables give you a place to add decoration at a BBQ. Use lots of bright colors to make the tables summery. If you use tablecloths, use clips or weights to hold them in place. Use colorful plates to add to the table decor. Look for plates in tropical or summer patterns.
Don’t forget the centerpieces. If you choose a theme, use that to help you create centerpieces. For example, you might use pineapples and coconuts as the centerpieces for a luau or cowboy hats for a Western theme. A good general centerpiece idea is to fill a clear glass container with lemons or limes. Add some flowers in the middle.
Some strands of decorative lighting dress up the BBQ area and give you functional lighting if the party lasts into the night hours. Use strands of lights or paper lanterns around the outdoor party area to add some color and decoration. You can add your own decorations to paper lanterns to make them fit the theme or look you want. For example, cut out paper flowers and stick them onto the lanterns to make they look summery.
Don’t forget the tabletop lighting. You can use lanterns or candles on the tables to add a festive glow.
