Many nights passed with me sitting up in a chair trying to sleep instead of going to bed. I couldn’t stand to lay down because of the pain from my severely bloated abdomen. I finally went to the doctor, and after an examine and ultrasound, I was told I had uterine fibroids. One was the size of a grapefruit and was surrounded by many smaller ones. The doctor told me I needed surgery. I didn’t want surgery at that time, so I opted to try and cope with the fibroids using alternative methods.
I changed my diet a lot.
Any food that had hormones or antibiotics added to it was out. No meat, eggs, or dairy products unless they were homegrown or organic from the store. All processed foods were tabooed. I tried to make all our meals from scratch. I became a fanatic about reading labels and didn’t buy foods containing chemicals like MSG. I quit all sugars, including sodas.
Following is a list of the supplements I used.
Essiac Tea (with Cat’s Claw) – Two Tablespoons daily
Flaxseed Oil – Two Tablespoons daily
400 – 800 IU of Vitamin E daily
One garlic tablet daily
Choline – 250 mg daily
Inositol – 500 mg daily
Magnesium 500 mg daily
I am NOT a doctor; this is an example of what I took and what worked for me. Consult your doctor before trying a protocol similar to this.
I prayed for healing and visualized my fibroids shrinking. I also did a lot of walking as it didn’t cause me pain. I stayed away from tight fitting clothes like blue jeans. Dresses and housecoats became my favorite articles of clothing.
I cut my stress from toxic people, and I tried my best to keep positive at all times.
Do I still have uterine fibroids? My guess is that I do. However, I believe that they have shrunken in size considerably. I wear blue jeans, although not tight fitting ones. After menopause, many of the symptoms have either left or are not severe.
I used a self-help book called Fibroid Tumors & Endometriosis by Susan Lark, M.D. It is very detailed in things you can try, supplements you can use, and so forth. I didn’t do all the things that were in there but styled a diet, exercise, and supplement schedule that fit my lifestyle.
