Once there was a great King. King David. He is known to those of the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim faiths. Many faiths in fact can relate to the story of David when he met and slew Goliath the dragon. Now you can achieve more peace and happiness in life, and it begins with a very important step.
Steps Needed To Slew Your Goliath:
1. Be Grounded In Purpose
2. Understanding Your Dragons
3. Pinpoint Your Dragons
4. Eliminate Your Dragons Or Mitigate
1. Be Grounded In Purpose:
Though getting grounded in purpose is not really a step in this process, it is always important to keep the end in mind.
You have goals, and these goals are important to you for whatever reason. Getting clear on your goals is always an important step as without it, there is no point to dragons.
2. Understanding Your Dragons:
Your Goliath or dragons can be a number of things. For example, you want to loose weight, then the advert starts telling you about food. That’s a dragon! And it can be highly effective against your aims.
Dragons can come in other forms and they always come disguised in helpful things which are not beneficial to your highest aims. They usually benefit the one sending you on the road but not you.
Another way to put it, is that your goals and aims are your kingdom as the bible says. More you move toward them, more closer you are to heaven. The dragons are all that keep you from those.
As another example, you come up with an idea and many people tell you that you can’t or try to talk you in other directions. These are all dragons.
Goliath then becomes the main problem to your success.
2. Pinpoint Your Dragons:
Now it’s time to pinpoint your dragons. Keep your purpose in mind. I want you to do this now, not read this article as every article, I want you to pinpoint them and know all the things that are stopping you from reaching your goals.
Though we didn’t cover this before, remember the self, you, is often a big hindrance to our successes. For example, your mind says such things as you are too old, you are too young, you can’t do that, etc.
All these aspects need to be pinpointed so you can move forward from victory to victory.
3. Eliminate Your Dragons Or Mitigate:
The next step is to eliminate your dragons or at least mitigate them. This is the crucial point that allows you to go forward and is like the next level or stage in a game, you have to essentially fight the Goliath to move forward.
Doing this requires everything you have learned, bringing in all knowledge and willpower. Stopping smoking we know is often an act of sheer will power over a habit and a chemical that has taken a deep root into your system.
Will power is required. This might include turning over from the food advert to a fitness channel. Now we talking! They talking about exercise, so you might decide to give up on all that fatty food, become a vegetarian and get into fitness at least in this example.
If it is thoughts, then it is taking action to correct whether with affirmations and prayer, meditation or other skills.
If it is friends or people who don’t have your highest best in mind, then it is moving forward in will to move past those.
If it is on your path. For example, I hear that there are some people in church who sometimes don’t get along with someone. Then in that case you don’t sit by them, go somewhere where you can’t even see them or think of them.
We are generally our own worst enemies. This can come in the form of views and perceptions and the thoughts that arise from those.
It’s 11 AM, and I don’t feel like going to the shop!
Getting clear on where our dragons and the Goliaths are is an important step in achieving success. Usually your success is masked in the defeat of your Goliath, such as actually going past those limitations or things that’s stopping you.
For when you do, you will find that your promised land is there.
