Gone are the days of traditional dating as many of us grew up knowing. Honestly, if I was not married and could date again I firmly believe that I would not date in the fashion accommodating the dating trend of today.
Has Traditional Dating Changed Forever Online Dating?
I realize that no every individual is going to share my opinion on dating in today’s society. This 21st century brought with it a whole new world in just about any sector of thought, such as finances, job hunting, electronics and much more including the dating scene.
Traditional dating always has had its negative and positive aspects, but it was the traditional way of meeting someone new and getting to know them. Online dating in the 21st Century has its negative and positive aspects, however in this current day and age our world has become a more frightening place to live, work and date and no one knows for sure who they are talking to online.
Not as Many Worries in the 20th Century?
Somewhere in the 20th century, people did not lock their house doors during the day or night. Everyone in the neighborhood was trusted. My dad used to tell me as I was in my teen years, “You used to be able to trust anyone until you found they could not be trusted. Now, you never trust anyone until they can prove they can be trusted.”
Same Worries but More Advanced in the 21st Century
The world we live in has become a frightening place to live, work and enjoy life. There are more mentally ill individuals walking our neighborhoods because there is no place for them to go. More people relish doing as much physical and emotionally harming as they can to other individuals without thinking twice, having no consciousness of right or wrong actins. Evil is throughout our world more today than any other time in history.
Today’s technology is spinning out of control with thought provoking advances beyond our common knowledge. Smart phones, computer systems, laptops, iPads and so much more has most dependent upon the services they provide every day. When a computer system goes down all life seems to come to a screeching halt, including the online dating scene.
We No Longer Live in a Simple World
As good as these advanced electronic devices have improved our life; they have also caused a wealth of problems from identity theft to serious deception of one individual to another.
The computer system allows people to hide their identity behind their system. This is why I am totally against online dating for any of my family or friends.
I realize that many do not share my opinions and this is alright, what I am saying is that online dating would not be for me and I discourage loved ones from following the dating scene in this manner. I think it can be a dangerous proposition. The best bet for online dating would be a Christian dating site where honesty or higher morals may be the point of interest, but I am not entirely for these sites either.
First Impressions are the Best, this is Impossible with Online Dating
Online dating does not offer any kind of first impression and there is no person-to-person contact in the beginning of the relationship. Something is left out of the equation. Online dating allows the individual to get to know the other person before they have even met and I think this flags some caution.
I do not relish anyone knowing too much about me until I think the person I would like to know better is ready to hear about me and I have met him or her in person. I do not want to know too much about the other individual either unless I would really like to hear about them.
Easy Deception in the 21st Century
What if I let, the individual know what I look like, I tell them everything about me, and then they let me know the same thing, how does that person know I am not laying about what I look like and who I really am.
People online can hide major facts, names and even their picture. All of this information could be imaginary, how would you know for sure, you would not. False information is easy to hand out to by anyone using the traditional dating method, but it takes a special person to hide their true character and facts about their life. Eyes and facial expressions say much about an individual. If that individual hides behind a computer, it is impossible for them to make that first impression.
I have a good feeling that online dating is they path many people are taking now and online dating sites are here to stay due their popularity. Knowing all the pros and cons of both types of dating will not change my mind. I vote for traditional dating, saying, “To each his or her own, and good luck in the future years to come”.
