For years I have been buying bulk supplies for my family, since it is the best way to save money. Lots of families are learning that this is a great way to save money. However if you live in an apartment it can be difficult to find the space to store all of these items. This is where a little creativity goes a long way. Below you will find several ideas on how to store your extra large items.
Under Bed Storage
Bulk paper towels, bulk toilet papers, and other large paper products can be stored very easily under your bed. Of course you don’t want to just toss them under the bed, but you want to store them neatly. The best way to do this is to remove your mattress, for a minute so you can see exactly where to put things. Of course before you store the items in this space clean the floor, and get rid of any excess dust. Then neatly arrange the items under the bed. You can also store your bath soap under the bed into a container, if it all does not fit into the closet. When you are all done, you can put the mattress back in place. Then when you need items you can just pull them out and restock the supply closet.
An old cabinet can easily be used to store your extra items. You can visit your local thrift store, to try and find an old cabinet. If the cabinet looks like it is in bad shape, than you can easily clean it up, and fix it to look great. A little bit of paint can go a long way. Then you can arrange and organize your extra supplies in the cabinet. Storage bins may also work well in this area as well. Or you can use this cabinet to store your towels and washcloths, and then use the other closets to store your supply items.
Add extra shelves
Storage shelves can easily be added into the bathroom, bedroom, or any other space you choose to use for your storage area. Paper towels, or toilet paper rolls, can easily be stored on shelves as long as they can be arranged neatly. You don’t need to buy fancy shelves. You can buy pieces of finished wood in the sizes you choose and some brackets as well. Then you can hang them on the wall. This is simple and easy to do, and the best part is that it will not cost you a lot of money.
Keep track of what you have
Another important aspect of storing items, is to make sure that you keep track of the items that you have in stock. There is nothing worse than going to use an item and seeing that it is no longer there. So I have found that keeping a check list of what you need is important, and helps to make things easier.
